Understanding the game
It is a blisteringly hot day in the small town of Rancho Rodadora. Stand still and let the warm breeze blow through your antlers. In the distance, the sharp cry of Cactus Nails can be heard, the villain of this story and your number one priority. Grab your rake sheriff, it’s time to do some serious gardening, wild west style!
Process of Composition
When composing for Rancho Rodadora, I wanted to make sure my music fit the theme of the game, which was Wild West Country. A crucial factor was that I chose the right instruments to use eg. Banjo, Slide Guitar, etc. I wanted the music to have a cartoony feel to it. I made the track using software instruments only.
The tracks were implemented through Unity's audio engine. The menu loop was attached as a component to menu scene. The main loop was attached to the main scene through a component and was set to loop continuously. Both of the tracks also had an audio listener component attached and were routed to the audio mixer.
